There are 14 different volunteer committees associated with the event. A few examples of these committees include: Marshals, Volunteer Services, Standard Bearers, and Construction. For a complete listing with descriptions, please go to our Volunteer Opportunities page.
There is no set number of shifts that a volunteer must work but if you would like to be eligible to play in the Volunteer play day then you must work at least three (3) shifts. There are two shifts available every day (AM and PM). Each shift will last approximately 2-4 hours depending on the committee assignment. Please check the position you may want to work for the description and times required. All positions needed are listed on the application form.
Volunteer Headquarters will be next to the swimming area at the Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate.
We ask that you please call your committee chairperson as soon as you know that you are unable to cover your shift. If they are not available, please contact Volunteer Headquarters. Additional Information and phone numbers can be found in the volunteer manual that you will receive at a later date.
Yes, even if your committee assignment is outdoors. In the case of any weather delays, your committee chairperson will provide you with instructions.
You should arrive at Volunteer Headquarters wearing your volunteer shirt and hat. Bring your volunteer badge or credential and wear it at all times. Many volunteers also like to bring sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, and/or a small soft-sided cooler. Volunteers whose post is out on the golf course are more than welcome to get their lunch early and put it in their cooler to allow them more flexibility if they choose.
At Volunteer Headquarters the tournament will give you breakfast or lunch before or after your shift of work.
This event is not for profit with a goal of raising significant money for charity. The volunteer fee is used to offset the costs associated with volunteer expenses. We hope that all volunteers will find $40 value in raising money for local charities, getting behind the ropes, as well as, receiving a shirt, a hat, meals, and two weekly grounds passes.
